Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash payment options come to online retailer Overstock

OverstockOverstock, a Midvale, Utah-based American Internet retailer, announced addition of new cryptocurrency options into the list of available payment methods for its online shoppers. Now customers may use Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Litecoin to Bitcoin payment methods to purchase about 4 million items offered on its shopping website.

Customers has been able to make payments using Bitcoin starting from 2014, and now they have more options due to the partnership of Overstock with ShapeShift digital currency exchange, which involves Dash and Monero currencies.

At the online checkout shoppers are offered to select out of the list of cryptocurrencies and place their order, after which they are transferred to the payment page where they may complete the transaction and pay with their coins. The process of exchanging cryptocurrencies to Bitcoin is powered by ShapeShift.

Patrick Byrne speaking for Overstock noted that the retailer is an advocate of freedom for customers, including the freedom to share their views and opinions about the value they experience while using the service and their requests, indicating what they would like to see.

For a long time Overstock has been actively supporting Bitcoin and other blockchain initiatives, and went as far as to establish its own distributed ledger venture firm named Medici Ventures to invest their funds into the industry.
