UnionPay International has introduced its UnionPay International Mobile Payment Service (UMPS) enabling commercial banks, retailers, manufacturers of mobile devices and other third party organizations located outside mainland China to access an array of UnionPay mobile payment services, including UnionPay mobile QuickPass and UnionPay QR code payment using its open API.

Ant Financial is looking for further expansion into global markets and wants to anchor its presence in Pakistan through the purchase of a 45% stake in Telenor Microfinance Bank (TMB), a mobile financial services startup owned by Telenor, a Norwegian telecommunications company. According to the reports, under the terms of the deal Ant Financial will pay the price of $184.5 million for the 45% ownership of the startup.

Mastercard announced acquisition of Oltio, a mobile payments technology business, from its partner in South Africa, Standard Bank. Mastercard has been so far using the platform of Oltio for authorizing transactions for customers in the region using its Masterpass digital wallet. Oltio was incorporated as a joint-venture of Standard Bank and local airtime operator MTN.

MobilePay, a provider of credit card payment services based on mobile devices, owned by Danske Bank, is pushing its way into the Finnish market through establishing an independent subsidiary and entering into a deal with S Group and its S-Bank. Under the terms of the deal customers in Finland will be able to use mobile payment functionality to pay for purchases made at nearly a thousand grocery stores across the country both instore and online.
