29 November 2017

Comercia Global Payments EP, S.L, a joint venture company established by Global Payments Inc., an Atlanta-based provider of payment solutions, and CaixaBank, a Spanish financial services company, unveiled their plans to launch Apple Pay for cardholders across Spain.

According to the official statement, users of CaixaBank Pay app may link their credit or debit cards issued by CaixaBank to their Apple Pay wallet to make purchases paying for them at any NFC-powered terminal owned by retailers in the country.

Joan Morlà Tomàs, speaking for Comercia Global Payments, notes that Apple Pay enables the company to move on in line with its commitment to provide innovative technologies for its customers, lifting their experience to a higher level. Extended use of mobile devices in Spain paired with the company’s ‘omnichannel acquiring services’ brings it to the close shot of high-end mobile commerce solutions nationwide and even across Europe.

Customers using Apple Pay will be further provided with all perks and advantages coming with the bank’s credit and debit cards. The mobile wallet could be used to make payments from iPhone SE, iPhone 6 and newer models, as well as from Apple Watch. Users just need to authorize with TouchID or Face ID to confirm the transaction.
